Therapist confidences · Interview
In this new episode of Therapist Confidences, I had the honour of welcoming Cathy Caulier. With her rich experience as a psychologist and couple and family psychotherapist, and her precious role within the mental health services of Saint-Gilles and Louvain-la-Neuve, she offers a rare perspective on systemic therapy.
In this interview, Cathy shares her journey as a therapist, insisting on the importance of the significant people in her life and career. She speaks with candour and humility about her successes as well as her failures, offering precious lessons to the younger generations of therapists.
She also gives us enriching reading advice and takes us on a journey through time, sharing her reflections on the evolution of therapy and on its essence. Her wisdom and intelligence light up this whole discussion, both educational and inspiring — a treasure for anyone interested in psychology, systemic therapy or simply personal development.
Co-written with Frédérique Van Leuven, this profound book (Growing up with parents in psychological suffering) explores the experiences of children growing up with parents facing psychological challenges. An invaluable resource for understanding the impact of mental illness on family dynamics, and a light shed on the subtleties and complexities of these situations.
