Who am I and where do I come from? The genogram workshop
The genogram is today used well beyond family therapy. Marcelo R. Ceberio here proposes a group version of it: a workshop, held over a year and a half or over a single weekend, in which exploring the history of family relations brings to light the patterns, the figures of identification and the mandates each of us inherits. A manual, together with an appendix of 84 exercises.
The genogram, put to work in a group
The genogram has today become a most useful resource for a series of disciplines that go beyond the field of family therapy: on a single sheet it condenses rich and abundant information that makes it possible to formulate hypotheses and inferences about the exploration under way.
Quién soy y de dónde vengo: el taller de genograma analyses and develops a model of the genogram applicable in a group, and provides the technical tools for running a workshop which, in a year and a half at most or in a single weekend, brings together various ages or people at the same moment of the life cycle, and works with a small number of participants as well as with a large group.
The workshop explores the history of family relations, with the aim of becoming aware of the resonances and inner echoes of our relational patterns.
Presentation of the book
These relational patterns are the figures of identification, the schemas and the mandates, the stories that converge to build a unique version of the family history.
What the manual contains
The book is conceived as a manual that guides and orients the professional. It contains the theoretical bases of the genogram in general and of the genogram workshop in particular, related to general systems theory and to cybernetics, but also to cognitivism and constructivism. It seeks to stimulate the therapist’s creativity, abounds in techniques of intervention and interpretation for the facilitator, and includes an appendix of 84 exercises that form the soul of the workshop.
Who is Marcelo R. Ceberio
A psychologist, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, he trained in Trieste (Italy) while coordinating the group of volunteers for psychiatric deinstitutionalisation, studied the systemic model at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto (United States) and holds doctorates from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and the Universidad J. F. Kennedy (Argentina). Holder of a master’s degree in family therapy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he is a researcher and full professor of several undergraduate and doctoral subjects at the Universidad Kennedy, co-director of the Argentine Systemic School (E.S.A.) and director of the psychology programme at the Universidad de Maimónides in Buenos Aires. He has published many books, among them La técnica de Rorschach: clasificación e interpretación, La segregación social de la locura, La construcción del universo. Epistemología, constructivismo y pensamiento sistémico (with Paul Watzlawick) and Locura, marginación y libertad (with Juan Luis Linares).
