Amour Monstre is a tool designed to make the relationship visible and speakable. Initially created to support couple therapy and individual work, it has expanded to work with families, to supervision, and even to autonomous use, to take stock of a relationship.
Its aim is not merely to discuss facts or grievances, but to help move from content to relationship: how the bond works, how it defines itself, what is alive, what is painful, and what each person wishes for the future.
A card represents the relationship as a “third”: neither me nor the other, but what is created between us, in a given context.
This passage through the image helps transform an emotion or an intuition into a shareable description, and then into a clearer conversation. The frame is there to support the therapist’s creativity: it provides structure, while leaving the freedom to invent ways of working suited to each person and situation.
