What is the systemic approach in psychology?
A seemingly simple question that covers an infinite complexity. Is it because of the very many fields in which this approach proves relevant, or the multitude of disciplines that went into building it? Either way, we know we are taking on a vast enterprise when we try to answer it. Could it nevertheless be explained simply?
That is the challenge I set myself. I invite you to climb aboard with me the mythical DeLorean of Back to the Future for a few round trips through time: to understand how this approach was born, in what soil it grew, and how it fits into History.
The journey begins with Freud and psychoanalysis, continues with the seeds of revolt against that movement, passes through the Palo Alto school and brings us back to the present day. I hope you will enjoy the ride as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you.
