Therapist confidences: Claudio Des Champs

I am particularly moved and honoured to share with you an interview with Claudio Des Champs, an Argentine psychologist and psychotherapist whose work and personality have marked my journey. I recognised much of myself in his work, and especially in his whole commitment to spreading the ideas and testimonies of the great masters of systemic therapy.

My encounter with Claudio

I had the good fortune of meeting Claudio Des Champs in Lyon, over the course of my training in the systemic approach. From our very first interaction, I was touched by his human warmth and his ability to connect deeply with others. As a supervisor and trainer, Claudio is not only a technical expert, but also a mentor who knows how to inspire and guide with kindness. The moments spent under his supervision were deeply formative.

A deep and lasting impact

By giving the community of systemic therapists access to the ideas and visions of the great masters — through the journal he circulated for many years — Claudio made the innovative and complex ideas of the systemic approach shine. He is a true model of humility, with plenty to inspire our work for years to come.

In sharing this interview, I hope that you, like me, will be touched and inspired by the journey and the teachings of Claudio Des Champs — an essential figure in our field, whose work continues to enlighten and guide many therapists around the world. The long version of the interview was later released as a podcast; the conversation — in French — is below.
