What is constructivism?

What if no one could ever fully grasp reality? If no one could hold the truth? What would that change in the way we apprehend the world?

This is exactly what constructivism says — a current of thought that has influenced a great many therapists since its rise in the 1970s and 1980s, standing in natural contrast with the most widespread conceptions of the time. But what is constructivism, and what does it change in the way we envision the world and therapy?

This shift of perspective also paved the way for a neighbouring current, social constructionism, from which narrative therapies notably emerged.
